The Burrito Popper Lure

This is a novelty type bait that I made for someone as part of a “Super Secret Bait Makers Guild” bait swap I am apart of with a bunch of great bait makers. (shhhhh 🤐) It’s suppose to be a popper type lure and while it does have a pop to it it really doesn’t swim that well during the retrieve. I only tested it out for a few casts to make sure it had at least some kind of action before sending it off so I wasn’t able to try catching a fish on it but I do think it’s possible… I mean who doesn’t like a good burrito.

The burrito lure was designed on an iPad in a sculpting program called Forger before being imported into TinkerCAD to finish all the hook hangers and other internal bits.

This was the first full thing I designed in Forger so it’s not that great but I still have a lot to learn about sculpting. I probably could have done a better job but I was short on time.

Like all of my hard body lures it was designed in two pieces and then glued together. Here’s is what the internal bits look like.

After a little airbrushing and an epoxy clear coat we have probably the worlds first burrito lure.

Designing the flap of the tortillas was probably the hardest part.

I didn’t put to much detail on the bottom though and the hooks might be too close together and be prone to crossing up.

For what it is and how fast I design and made this I’m pretty satisfied with how it came out. Hopefully the recipient gets a kick out of it.
