3D Printed Core Shot Ribbed Grub Mold

STL’s for this lure are available for purchase from Cults3d.com

This is a slight variation of the last grub mold I did. I changed the grubber to a full ribbed body and also gave the mold the ability to do core shots.

As always I printed the mold in eSun PLA+ and the core rods are just 1/8″ stainless steel rods.

I first tested the mold without the rods just to make sure the ribbed grubs would work.

Next I did a few core shot versions which worked out pretty well after figuring out the best way to close the mold in between shots.

The grub center sections were a little small and I was worried the jig heads wouldn’t stay in the grub so I decided to redesign the mold to make a fatter body like the last grub I designed had.

The three holes in the mold were for set screws just encase the rods didn’t stay in place.

Here you can see how they would pinch the rods in the mold. (It turns out these were not needed.)

The first batch of core shot grubs turned out great.

Here is the larger version compared to the first design.

I also did another mold of just the tails. This allowed me to make a fatter center colored section. (Basically a reversed core shot) You can see on the gold colored ones (above) they have a fatter core color.

I als0 started to play around with some glow powders on these.

Which lead to some glow in the dark core shot versions.

I like to refer to them as the Radioactive core shots.

Few video screen grabs of the first few fish during testing.
