Adjustable Lip Crankbait

This is a project I started back in September 2021.  This is just a concept to make an adjustable lip crankbait to test the effects on lip angle.  It will probably be a marathon project but this is what the design looks like so far.

The overall design still has your basic crankbait body shape.

The main aspect of the design use a worm gear set up that will allow for the lip angle to be easily changed with a screwdriver while out fishing.

In this animation you can see how turning the worm gear from the top of the lure will change the angle of the lip.

I tried to design it so there was no gaps in the front of the bait when the lip moves… but this leads to some challenges with the front tie on point.

I’m still working on that part of the design but it needs to look something like this where it is stationary and independent from the lip.  I also plan on trying a version with the tie on point on the lip to see how that effects things.

To be continued as I progress…
