Soft Plastic Baitfish Swimbait

This is just something I made real quick to test out some different things. I wanted to test out a soft plastic injection mold with a hook molded into the bait. So I chose to do this small baitfish swimbait. I haven’t actually got these in that water yet but I don’t think they are going to actually work without adding any additional weight such as a jig head hook but time will tell.

This actually started out as a hard bait swimbait that I made before…

… which funny enough was modeled after a soft swimbait all ready.

I added a little bit of detail (something else I was testing at the time) to my original design.

After that I just turned in into an injection model.

This is what the printed model looked like when printed. You can kind of see the hook cut out a added to the initial design shown in the last picture.

The first tests where just shot with clear plastisol with a little black flake in it

The next ones where done testing the technique I saw watching World’s Worst Fishing on YouTube where you dust the mold with mica powder before injecting.  The finished bait came out looked really good I think.

Here’s a close up showing the detail.

I tried to adding some black perch strips to the next one and… well it didn’t work out so well.

On a side note… I tried to print a mold out of eSun ePC for the heat resistance and while I screwed up the setting the plastisol stuck to the ePC like glue.
