Ultralight Crankbait 2

(STL files for these lures are available at Cults3D.)

This is a slightly modified version of my first 3D printed lure the original Ultralight Crankbait.

I wanted to make another batch of these because they are just fun to fish with so I modified the design a bit first. I lengthened the body a bit, added a gill plate, and used figure 8 hook hangers instead of a through wire because they are just easier to assemble when you don’t have to make the wire forms.

My favorite perch pattern. (dime for size comparison.)

Thought I’d give a mini Fire Tiger a try.

Mini Shad  (of course I forgot the signature black dot over the gill.)

…and last but not least a sparkly glitter version.

I was even able to dome the eyes on these tiny suckers.

I moved the hook back on this one to try and stabilize it a bit like the originals and then for finish I chrome foiled it with HVAC tape.  It didn’t come out half bad either and it’s really shinny.

Well the Johnny Roaches like the new version anyway. You can catch these things non stop all day long on this tiny baits.

  1. These are awesome! New to 3D printing and this is one of the first projects I attempted. I have a few printed out and am rounding up supplies to finish them. What size eyes are you using ?

    1. The eye pockets are .18″ but I just paint the eyes on and then the dome is a drop of UV resin but a drop of epoxy should work too.

  2. These looks great, reminds of the Yo-Zuri Snap Beans. I’m going to try to hollow the bottom out for some BB’s.

  3. These look incredible. I just got my first 3d printer. It is a resin printer. I am going to try this first!
