After building the Man Kombat Komet I fell in love with the ME163. I wanted to build a true scale version to use in combat so I set out to design my own. I wanted a complete Fiberglass Model so to start I blew up the above 3 views to about 1/12 scale to make them legal. Next I started to make a foam plug that I could mold.
First I cut out the basic shape and wing for the plug.
Next I installed the vertical stab/rudder and trimmed the wings.
Fillets added.
Added the skid and some filler to blend the shape of the fuse.
More blending.
Added even more filler to smooth things out.
It’s pretty well blended at this point.
Next I cut it completely in half to make it easier to mold and glassed it smooth.
Preparing the mold box.
A little Plaster of Paris later and the mold is done.
After I laid in some glass and cloth I had two rough halves.
It didn’t come out to bad for never having done this before.
I never did get around to finishing this yet… again I got side tracked in life but I’ll get back to it sooner or later.
