This is my SiG Somethin Extra. I remember it being a fun kit to build and was pretty easy to make. This was my main plane the last few years I was flying… I’ve flown this thing so much I was bored with it. This and my lack of a suitable build area was the reason I stopped flying.

I was a big fan of Tomb Raider when I built this hence the Pilot.

Polished landing gear seamed like a good idea at the time.

I modified the Throttle tray for duel micro servos (only one shown installed) so I could run a smoke system. It worked out ok for only being only a two stroke.

Here is a picture of the smoke system in action on a different plane (same motor).

This was my most recent addition, a 12 shot ping pong ball dropper, tons of fun. You just have to make sure on a dive bombing run you don’t watch the ball drop and not the plane.

This was made from some plywood, PVC Pipe Fittings, Plexiglass, and a clear shop light tube.

There was a little servo actuated finger at the back of the tube that released the balls. (this was the single shot finger)

The left finger was the carpet bomb function (dropped them all in one shot) and the right finger was the single shot.

The entire assembly mounted to the bottom of the plane with a few screws.

Surprisingly enough it didn’t affect the Cg to much and still flew fine.

The balls did accumulated a bit of junk from grass clippings at takeoff though. These days this would be a lot easier to make with 3d Printing.

Here is a crappy video from 2007 of how it works and of it in action. (It was 15+ years ago give me a break on the bad quality.)
